The game development studio, cinema production, and publisher, Aether Games Inc., announced on December 7 that they would release free chat wheel emoticon non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for their game franchise, <a href="https://tingbits.com/game/cards-of-ethernity/">Cards of Ethernity</a> (CoE), on December 22.

Cards of Ethernity (CoE) is a blockchain-based play-and-earn digital collectible competitive card game. It is set in the dark fantasy Aether metaverse full of mythical creatures such as dragons, trolls, fairies, beasts, demons, and elementals. It is the first game in its metaverse to enable Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Emotes coming from all of the studio's franchises, but with perfect compatibility for COE and the others once completely enabled across its entire platform.

Every NFT Emote design comes with 100 exclusive copies per batch. This means that the given NFT Emotes can never be minted again, making the one-day event among the rarest opportunities to get the said NFTs for free. However, Aether Games Inc. stated in their <a href="https://coe.gg/emotes-nft-utility/">blog</a> that they would reward the most active and supportive partner communities with more customized Emotes by completing specialized quests in the future.

“In Cards of Ethernity, players are able to use Emotes as in-game reactions to pun, shame or compliment the other opponent’s behavior,” Aether Games shared. “Just like other products of Aether Games Inc., Emote NFTs are both collectible, tradable, and playable items. Acquiring these assets first-hand is definitely a decent effort,” they added.

The game will be available for early access in Europe. Although no specific release date has been set, Aether anticipates that the testing period will last between two and four months. This project was created to prepare the game's free-to-play features, from onboarding to addressing user feedback. Furthermore, this stage allows the developer to monitor and assess the populations of their servers, with matchmaking queue times and server ping being two of their top priorities.
