On December 2, Coinbase Wallet said it had joined forces with <a href="https://twitter.com/Transak/status/1598606064295219201?s=20&t=mT08_WWAp_pOxA3ACtx38Q/">Transak</a>, a web3 onboarding infrastructure provider. Through this collaboration, Coinbase Wallet users now have access to Transak’s toolkit and its features for fiat-to-crypto transactions (on-ramp) and crypto-to-fiat transactions (off-ramp). 

Transak’s backend also enables Coinbase Wallet users to easily buy and sell cryptocurrency in multiple blockchain applications, websites, and plugins. Transak currently has more than 100 partners in its ecosystem and supports over 130 crypto assets with its payment features.

<a href="https://twitter.com/hassan_ny/">Hassan Ahmed</a>, Coinbase SEA Regional Director, noted that self-hosted wallets are increasing in popularity, particularly as people become more informed of the significance of keeping their resources secure, safe, and in their own power and that Coinbase Wallet, with its world-class security and simple-to-use features, combined with Transak, provides their SEA customers the ability to access crypto and Web3 securely.

Last September, Transak enabled local payment methods in its platform for the countries in Southeast Asia (SEA): the Philippines and Thailand. Local payments using GCash, Maya, GrabPay, and debit/credit cards were enabled in the Philippines, while bank transfers and debit/credit card payments were enabled in Thailand.

Sami Start, CEO of Transak, <a href="https://transak.com/blog/coinbase-wallet-partners-with-transak/">stated</a> that they were glad to provide the integration to the Coinbase Wallet platform so users could onboard more efficiently and pay fewer transaction fees overall, making it more intuitive for them to participate.

Moreover, Start added that Transak was aligned with CoinbaseWallet to expand to new regions globally and increase Web3 adoption.

As part of Transak’s onboarding process, they handle the most critical security compliance measures. This includes ID checks, liveness checks, PEPs and sanctions checks, wallet scans, Know Your Customer (KYC) checks, velocity checks, and checks related to IP, email, and phone numbers.
