Sky Mavis has announced a $2.4 million esports grant for its hit title <a href="https://tingbits.com/game/axie-infinity/">Axie Infinity</a>. This grant will be used to plan and execute professional tournaments and invitationals. The AXS coin, Axie Infinity's currency, will be the main currency for the planned events. According to the <a href="https://esportsinsider.com/2022/09/axie-infinity-creator-sky-mavis-to-give-away-2-4m-in-esports-grants/">report</a>, the funding will be distributed between Q4 2022 and Q2 2023.

<a href="https://methodguild.io/">Method MetaGuild</a> (MMG) is the first recipient of this esports grant. With the newly acquired funds, the guild will host online and LAN tournaments with a $160,000 reward.

"Honoured to have Method MetaGuild be the first partner w/ Axie Infinity on this grant, we are putting on a massive $160k prize pool tournament w/ live event finals coming in November," said <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/scott-mcmillan-138b16161/">Scott McMillan</a> via Twitter, the Founder, and CEO of Method MetaGuild.

Sky Mavis' Co-Founder <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffzirlin/">Jeffrey Zirlin</a> also <a href="https://twitter.com/jihoz_axie/status/1569998947082534913?s=46&t=iuKrCnt8xwPmyODo1nx_kw/">tweeted</a>, "This is a turning point that will bring more power and freedom to gamers. Honored to be on this journey with you, Scott."

So far, Axie Infinity's grant program has helped fund 94 different tournaments. Because of this, Axie Infinity has been able to stay ahead of the competition. The esports grant is distributed based on the prize pool and the event's size.

Event types include minor and major tournaments, online invitationals, leagues, and local tournaments. Major tournament prize pools will range from $200,001 to $1 million. Meanwhile, local tournaments will have a smaller prize pool ranging from $1,000 to $9,999.

<a href="https://www.method.gg/">Method</a> is one of the longest-running and most successful esports organizations. The guild collaborated with <a href="https://everyrealm.com/">Everyrealm</a>, a pioneer in developing novel gaming experiences, to create Method MetaGuild. This initiative aims to develop competitive blockchain gaming and lure traditional gamers into the space.

Method MetaGuild is home to over 3,000 competitive gamers that play blockchain-based games. In June, the <a href="https://medium.com/@MethodMetaGuild/mmg-x-axie-infinity-5fd53f8c0a5c/">first MMG esports</a> held in collaboration with Axie Infinity attracted over 400 competitors. 

MMG has also acquired the <a href="https://twitter.com/chosenonesaxie?s=21&t=W6x1QsxFyX4MuODCsT403g/">Chosen Ones</a>, an elite esports team. The team was among the esports teams that advanced to and competed in the recent <a href="https://tingbits.com/post/axiecon/">AxieCon</a> tournament. MMG has teamed up with Castle Crush, Cyball, Cantina Royale, Delysium, and Planet Mojo. Griffin Gaming Partners, Galaxy Interactive, Three Arrows Capital, NGC, Foresight Ventures, and GoldenTree Crypto also support MMG.
