<a href="https://www.baobabstudios.com/about-us/">Baobab Studios</a>, a nine-time Emmy award-winning animation studio, has unveiled its new digital collectible game franchise, <a href="https://tingbits.com/game/momoguro/">Momoguro</a>, which is set to launch in early 2023. 

The new NFT game is the company's first foray into web3 and is designed by project creators Nico Casavecchia and Martin Allais. Baobab is partnering with Immutable X, an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling protocol.

According to Maureen Fan, CEO of Baobab Studios, web3 gives the company another avenue to inspire people to dream and show them that they matter. 

"And that last sentence, which is make you matter, is what I feel differentiates us from other animation studios out there because we want you the audience, to be part of the experience, whether it's a character or if it just means you're the community. You actually get to influence what happens and how we build that story. So Web3 was natural for us to be a part of because it really helps with that mission and allowing the community to be on the ground floor," Fan said in an <a href="https://venturebeat.com/games/baobab-studios-unveils-momoguro-web3-collectibles-game/">interview with GamesBeat</a>.

While Momoguro will be joining Baobab's growing franchise, it will be offered as a standalone universe with an entirely new storyline and characters. According to Fan, the product will be available as a playable metaverse game, as well as television/film, books, and other media.

Tim Steudler, Immutable X's Head of Games Business Development, also expressed the company's excitement for bringing Baobab's new project to the blockchain. 

"We are excited to partner with Baobab Studios to enhance their player experience and unlock a new universe of creative play for the community," Steudler said.

The Momoguro game is based on the fantastical world of Momoguro. Players can collect and fuse creatures called "Momos" to gain their powers and become ultra-powerful Momobeasts. The gameplay also allows players to go on quests, unlock clues, and discover long-forgotten secrets to defend Momoguro from evil forces.

Baobab Studios is composed of experienced film gaming professionals, including Fan, who previously worked at the social gaming platform Zynga, Eric Darnell, the creator of Ants and the Madagascar film series, and Larry Cutler, formerly of Pixar. Stay tuned for more updates.
